Crochet Art

March 10, 2010

I couldn't come up with a clever title for this craft so Crochet Art it is ;)! I would have posted earlier today but when I was looking at the project it just wasn't finished...sometimes I hate it when that happens ;). Without further ado....

Remember this? From HERE? I knew this purchase would come in handy!

I also had these two other canvases laying around begging for a revamp:

{Hardcore right...?}

And then I worked my magic:

How I did this you ask? Well its easy my friends let me lay it out for ya ;)!

1. I recovered the canvases, I lined mine with some leftover white felt so the patterns wouldn't show through. I adhered the felt using spray adhesive, then I covered the canvas, pretend like you are wrapping a present ;). I just used hot glue to attach the fabric on the opposite side to the canvas, you can also use a staple gun to do this.

{Don't have any canvases? I bet you can use frames and cover them using the same techniques.}

2. Then I crocheted a chain in various lengths, just measure and crochet to your desired length.

3. To make the poppy flowers (I like to call them that) here is the pattern:

1. Chain 4
2. Join chain with the first chain join with a single crochet/(SC)
3. Chain 1 then crochet 8 half double crochets/(HDC) through the center of the created circle
4. After completing 8 HDC's slip stitch in the first chain 2 to join
5. Chain 2
6. Crochet 2 double crochets/DC in each HDC created in the previous step (Total DC is 16)
7. Join with the chain two with a slip stitch
8. Chain 2
9. Crochet 2 DC's in each DC created in the previous step (Total DC is 32)
10. Join with the chain two with a slip stitch
11. Chain one and your done! Remove from yarn ball/skein and sew in loose ends.

{To make a smaller poppy flower skip steps 8-10 and head to 11}

{For help crocheting go HERE she is so awesome and has great tutorials!}

4. Hot glue in the pattern you desire ;).

5. Enjoy and love!!

Ready for an awesome before and after?

{Before=BORING!}

{After=AWESOME!!!!!!}
