Hey Guys!! How is everyone doing??
Well, I hope!!
I mentioned a couple weeks ago that it was my dear husband's birthday, well I decided months before his birthday that I would surprise him with a new blanket! Ya see we each sleep with our own blanket...I pretty much demand it....I need a lot of blanket flap while sleeping ;).
I of course didn't want to subject him to flowers or anything frou frou, so I came up with using bandannas! It goes perf with our bedroom color scheme of white, and blue with red accents.
Here is how it turned out:
{Super fun huh! It also has a white trim around the edges which is hard to see in the pics.}
Want to make one of your own??

Want to make one of your own??
Here is what you need:
~Bandannas: The number depends on how large you want to make yours' I did mine 3x4 and found them at Target for regular price of $2.99 but I had a $2.00 coupon so I was able to get them for $0.99 for a 2 pack!! YESSSSS!!
~Sheet for the back: I bought a white one from Ikea in a King size so I was able to do a trim on the front around the edges as well as the entire back with out having a seam going down the back.
~Batting
~Sewing machine
~Measuring tape
~Scissors

How it's done:
1. Determine how large you want your blanket to be.
2. Launder your bandannas.
3. Iron your bandannas so they are easier to sew.
4. Sew your bandannas in a pattern that is pleasing to you. I just did mine in a checker pattern but you could also do a pin wheel pattern that would be super cute!
5. Iron out your seams as you go.
6. If you want to add a edge around your bandannas like I did you will need to cut pieces 4.5 inches wide and then by the length needed.
7. Iron out your seams.
8. Cut the batting and the backing of the blanket to fit the front.
9. I sew my blankets inside out so I don't have to worry about binding them. It is so so much easier! Be sure to leave an opening so you can reach inside and turn it right side in. Then sew up the opening either by hand stitching it or on the machine.
10. I decided to quilt the blanket instead of tying. What I did was went around the seams that I had created on the front of the blanket so it secures all three layers: top, batting, and the back.
11. Enjoy!!!

So what do you guys think? This was seriously the easiest blanket (Aside from baby blankets) that I have made! Plus hubby loves it!! Also I thought this would be cut for a little boys room or even a girls room if you used like pink or purple bandannas. Super versatile!
Have any questions about this project or any in the past? Or just for fun? Please let me know I am always happy to help!!
