A Nervous Wreck and A Slip

January 31, 2011

Can I just say that I am so glad that I am here to blog for you guys today...
I had to teach the lesson yesterday for Young Woman's at church.
And at anytime I was about to hyperventilate or yammy in my handbag!

Public speaking is a HA-UUUGE fear of mine..
It's right up there with spiders, and falling into some sort of body of water!
{Awk?...Sort of but I am super scared of drowning!}

Here is what I wore to church yesterday:
 {Leopard Cardi: K-Mart?, White Button-up: Kohls, Mustardy Pencil Skirt: Thrifted, Pleated Under Slip: c/o A Slip Shop, Tights: Macy's, Platform Heels: Ross, Statement Necklace: Kohls}
Isn't that slip AH-maze? My friend Kaity sent it to me to try out and I am in love! See this mustard skirt is sort of almost too short for my own modesty standards but with this slip it adds on almost another 2 inches! LOVE!

I really don't know how I am going to make it with this teaching thing every month thing! Hubby says that this will make me a better person and blah blah blah ;) I guess I am just being a baby face.
What do you guys think?
Anyone else out there have the same freaky fear??

I think we should start a support group ;)!??
Think about it ;)

Love, love.

  1. Great ensemble! I love your necklace and skirt oh-so-much. And the long slip underneath is such a good idea! I love doing it! You can occasionally find knee-length or tea-length ones at thrift stores, with pretty lace edging. Such a fun addition to any outfit (unless the outfit is pants, I guess ...).

    As for teaching in church: yep, pretty nervewracking. My calling is to teach a Gospel Doctrine Sunday School class every other week, and it was only, like, two lessons ago that I finally felt okay doing it. Hang in there! I always feel the lesson went better when class members get involved and share their own thoughts; I'd suggest trying to make that as big a part of your lesson as possible. Also, I'll recommend this website (FULL of great ideas for each and every YW lesson - I'm not even in a ward with YW anymore, and I still love reading it =): http://beginningsnew.blogspot.com/

  2. I can rock some public speaking but I am completely terrified of drowning.
    Its kind of ridiculous considering I live in Michigan. You know, that state surrounded by all those giant lakes and containing about a million more smaller bodies of water.
    You'll be fine with the teaching. I always have found its easier to talk at church where people are actually kind of rooting for you.

  3. Love that cute slip under the skirt...perfect for adding those extra few inches!!! I have worked in YW for about 5 of our almost 10 years of marriage...it's a fun calling! I bet the girls LOVE you!

  4. I loved your outfit! Very pretty! I teach every Wednesday night and Sunday night to the little kids and I love it! Although my friend has asked me to sign a song with her during service. I know how to sign because my sister is deaf but I am kinda freaked out about signing in front of the congregation. I don't like getting in front of people and having them watch me, freaks me out! I know you will have a blast teaching these young girls, I know I do!

  8. Morgan, I saw you from a far at church yesterday... you looked beautiful. You always look fabulous! You are just one put together girl! LoVE all your looks and your blog!! So much fun... I take a look at it often, I'm just not very good at commenting, I'll try to be better. :)

    I don't blame you about standing in front of people and teaching... I can barely say the prayer in front of kids. :) Good luck with your new calling... you will be great!

  9. I was looking at the slip shop yesterday, I love them!

    I think you'll be less afraid with some time/pratice. Besides, they're little kids - what do they know! They probably don't even know that you're nervous!

  10. I totally agree! Public speaking is so hard, I always stumble over my words and loose my train of thought. I'm sure you'll get so comfortable with it over time, all it takes is practice.

    Just came across your blog, it's adorable.

  11. I have an irrational fear of sharks and the dark. I love the beach, but there's always that little nagging fear in the back of my mind that there are man-hungry sharks in the water with me (there aren't-I'm just paranoid.) And with the dark thing, I don't like that I can't see what's around me and that freaks me out.

    LOVE that slip! Too cute! I have a few skirts and dresses that could use something like that.
