Dinner turned out great last night! I would say a total success and those Lemon Church Style Potatoes were bangin!!

So I have had a lot on my mind the past couple days so why not lay it out here on the world wide web for all to see ;).
This whole blog world is crazy isn't it?
I mean it's kind of like you are a nobody if you don't have the coolest camera, or a profesh photog taking pics of you everyday, or shop at cool places like Anthro.
Sometimes I feel that way, am I the only one?
It seems like my blog is the little blog that could at times.
I wish I was a pro at graphic design, and had friggin sweet camera, and time to take pics in locations other than my neighborhood.
But then real life sets in and I realize that I gotta work with what I got and make it the best I can.
Whether that takes me twice or three times as long to be a "Blogging Success," or for people to even know my name then so be it.
It can be discouraging at times, ya know?

AhhHhh! Man do I feel better!
Anyone else wanna vent?
Have at it (just not about me k...remember we're friends ;))!
Sorry I have such a Debbie Downer lately!
Maybe it's this crap weather that is bringing out my boo hoo woe is me attitude (matter of fact lets just blame it on that mmk?)

Thanks friends!
Love, love.

  1. I love this outfit! And I LOVE your bangs! I wish mine had turned out like that when I just had them cut!

  2. Girlfriend. Your blog has it all! I'm serious! I don't think you need to be a pro at graphic design - I think a clean layout and good fonts are the most important. And BOO ANTHRO, I'm tired of Anthro! (Even though I do own a few Anthro skirts... but still.) I absolutely love your blog - and even though you don't have a profesh photog your photos always turn out great!

  3. I think this post is great. I appreciate it when bloggers are honest about how things just aren't perfect all the time. You're definitely not the only person who feels discouraged sometimes. I have a simple point and shoot camera, my Adobe skills are pathetic and my life feels like an episode of groundhog day. So why bother blogging? I recently reflected on this and decided I can define my blogs success based on the standard I set for it and for myself. I work at a domestic violence shelter and it's very difficult to define success in that arena. Blogs are very similar. For me, just a post is a success. For some a certain number of followers is success. For others sponsorship is success. Try and focus on what you enjoy about your blog and don't compare it to other blogs you consider "successful." The beauty of blogging is individual, unedited, self expression in whatever form that is. What you have to contribute to the blogosphere is different than what someone else has to contribute; and that's a good thing! I will step down from my soap box now. Just know you have many readers who enjoy your blog.

  4. WOW! First you look super cute, I'm diggin the vest.
Ok, now second, WHEW am I relieved (and very surprised) to hear/read you've been feelin that way lately. I thought it was just ME! It's kinda weird to hear it from the outside looking in, because I is little ol' me reading YOUR blog thinking about how together you've got it! :) My post this week was about exactly that, and though mine is just a little no-direction-baby-starter blog to keep me sane, it's a relief to know I'm not alone.

So here's to a brigter day (and less woohoo woes)

  5. To be honest it is actually feelings like that that is keeping me from blogging now. I have not posted a single blogpost in weeks. I guess I just have to work with what I got and then try and find my niche eventually.

  6. totally get it girl! soemtimes i'm just like, my pictures are such crap! or, do people realize i am being sarcastic? or, does our header look junky or is it kinda cool? and then i remember who cares! right?! do what makes you happy the end. if we constantly compare then we will never be satisfied!

  7. Arg, I totally know what you mean! For the record, I think your blog is a HUGE success for the time you've been at it!
Sometimes I kind of get down and wonder if I will ever have the following/the comments/the monetizing/the BLOG I envision. THEN I give myself a quick reality check and remind myself why I started in the first place and it really wasn't to attract a gazillion followers. It was just to write and create, because I love to do both. I just got addicted to gaining followers and comments, and the support is such a high, isn't it?
And the weather is pretty craptastic. (25 below zero today, woohoo!) So, yeah, that stinks, too. :)
You rock. There. I said it.

  8. I have severe blogger envy. I am just now getting into blogging. I am bummed that my husband does not take pics of me like so many other bloggers I read. :( I am bummed that I do not have a nifty camera...nor even a simple tripod!!!!

Because of this, I am getting my feet wet in the Blogworld very slowly (but surely). I think yours looks great! I love the clean layout and font size. Very easy to read.

  9. if it makes you feel any better, you are one of the first blogs i started to follow and yours is still one of my favorites. i think you are super great :)

  10. You are a blogging success compared to me and yep, sometimes I get those same feelings but remind myself that I have a reason I'm doing this and I'm doing it the best I can, so that better be good enough (for now).
Love this whole outfit and your hair style, very pretty. Keep up the inspirational work!

  12. I know exactly what you mean. Us small bloggers have style and originality but people follow the blogs with certain things (great camera, great locations and designer wear) *Sigh*

Well anyway i love your blog and im one to say, you don't need all of that other stuff. stay fab!

  14. I totally know what you mean. I feel the same way all the time. I think your blog is seriously so great, you inspire me daily. I don't think locations this and that is all so important it's really your personality and your creativity that counts. I always always try to keep this quote in mind "Comparison is the thief of joy." ... or else i don't know what would happen to me.

  15. Hey! I LOVE your blog and I am so impressed with your new logo! LOVE it! I am totally in awe how you did that! I think your pictures look great...who needs a fancy dancy camera anyways! ;) Your outfit is darling!

  16. I totally totally agree. To be honest I love blogs all the more when they don't have the money to spend bagillions on and there isn't professional photography because guess what world, THAT'S REAL LIFE! Sometimes it makes me mad that a lot of people have big blogs because they have clothes that are expensive, I think it's so much more amazing to see someone with a great wardrobe that they thrifted, or got sales on. I know I don't have that kind of money, Amen sista!

  17. I love the jeans! I wondered what they looked like on you when you showed them in your 30 items post. Your bangs look really cute too.

I have the same feelings sometimes because I am at work the entire time it is light outside so my pictures are inside, which is kinda boring. Plus I just have a little point & shoot with a timer that I precariously balance on a table to take pics. However, my blog is for me, not anyone else, so I am fine with it.

I don't read many "fancy" blogs because they feel like they are trying to show that they are superior somehow. There is no way I can afford clothes from Anthro or J.Crew, but Target & Old Navy are fine with me. And sponsors? I admit a little extra moolah would be nice, but if a blog has too many ads, I just stop reading.

To sum up, I think you do a fantastic job with your blog. I like reading it because it feels real. Plus, I like to support my fellow Utahns!

  18. Morgan! You are a celebrity in my world! Have you seen my blog, ha ha! I have been teaming up each week with the pleated poppy for her WIWW and my outfits don't compare to yours or others. I'm just thankful you liked my jewelry enough to let me be a sponsor! You are great and take fabulous pictures lady!!!

  20. screw anthro. I love that your style is just as (if not more) amazing, and you do it so thrifty! Truly inspiring. I stopped following a lot of blogs like you mentioned because they just get stupid and unreal. By the way you totally look like a hippie, in the BEST sense, AND I love the new poses you've been doing!

  21. This post is so true. Thanks for having the guts to say it. I've been a silent follower for some time now (sorry about that). I am an avid reader of your blog, and really enjoy your outfits! Thanks for sharing. Oh, and I think Anthro is overrated.

  23. I was just thinking when I posted my What I Wore post and referenced you that I sure don't have time, or anyone who would also dedicate the time to take such cute pictures of cute outfits and details like shoes and stuff. I was thinking "What does she have, like a professional photographer come by every day?"
So, it's all in how you see it. There's always someone lower (and higher, of course) on the totem pole.

  25. I love your blog, just love it! I mean, I miss your craft posts, but you have such a fun personality! For real. Oh and the speaking in public thing. Can I join the club? I'd rather skin and eat my foot. And I always am think you have such a nice camera. SO I don't really know what you're talking about there.

  29. You should know that your blog is the first one I read. When I sit down at the end of the day to relax, I am always curious to see what you have been wearing or read about your projects, i know that sounds a little weird, but anywhoooo.

  30. I love what you just said here. I relate to it a lot! I would also like for my blog to be more successful and my hubs is a great photographer (and by great I mean way better than me and just got a cool new camera for Christmas) but thinks my blog is silly so he doesn't love taking my outfit pictures. I feel like if he would do them then I would continue to get better. I like getting inspiration from other blogs too, but then I don't want people to think that I am trying to copy... I take what I like and add it to what I know. Does that work? Anyways - I am loving your style and I found you from Kendi's challenge list. I am also participating....check me out and leave suggestions.
