#4: Going Green

February 4, 2011

 {Green and Cream Top: Old Navy, Jeggings: Kohls, Diesel Over-the-knee Boots: Diesel, Necklace: Downeast}

First I need to say thank you for all your very sweet comments you guys have left me, serious it made my day! My girl Ana from Get Craftin' put it perf:
"Comparison is the thief of joy."
Isn't she so wise??!!

So I have some bad news...well for me!
My hubby is going to frigging AFRICA in a couple weeks for a couple weeks! WEEKS PEOPLE!!
He has gone out of town before, but only 3-4 days never weeks! I mean serious it's kind of fun the first day cause I can do whatever I want! I can eat big mac's  for every meal, hook up my diet pepsi I.V. ;), sleep smack dab in the middle of the bed, and never get ready ;).
But then the big mac's and diet pepsi I.V. start to make me feel super grossed out and sick...and then I pretty much have a nuclear meltdown and miss him SOooooOO MUCH!
I don't know what I would do without guy!
How military wives do it I will never know! They are some super strong ladies!

Have any good tips for making the time go by faster?
I was thinking about starting up a new project around the house to pass the time/go shopping till I can shop no more ;)!
Anyone wanna kick it??

Thanks again friends!
TGIF right?
Love, love.

  1. Love that cute top on you...it's darling! And those boots are to die for! As for the hubby skipping town...my husband has to go out of town for 2 months at a time to do rotations at a hospital...it takes a little getting used to but it's not as bad as it sounds. I have three little ones at home so they keep me busy, but my advice is to schedule your life. Every SUnday take a look at the calendar and plan...plan times to exercise, time to do other hobbies, plan to meet up with girlfriends (this is a huge one for me when my hubby is gone) and plan on church related things. Planning and having things to look forward to makes the time go by. Good luck!

  2. love your new header girl! I totally know how you feel. I kind of live/eat like a bachelor when my husband is gone, and he's gone one weekend a month and then 2-4 weeks in the summer for Annual Training (it's like military summer camp haha) AND he might be going to Airborne school this summer :(

I'd say lets hang (bc my hubs is going to be gone this weekend too), but i'm in bleary ol' idaho

  3. That sucks! My husband was gone M-F the whole summer! It sucked! I had people over watched tons of movies/tv shows. You could start a craft project! It will be nice sleeping in the middle of the bed! That's what I did and I stole his pillow.... It will also be nice to not have to get ready! Do you watch the Nate Berkus show? Love it... Anyway, great quote, cute outfit, and good luck!

  4. Ughh, being apart is no bueno. My husband's driving cross-country with his bro right now (but he'll only be gone for a few days). I suggest that, if possible, you take a little trip of your own - go exploring on your own timetable, like the single girls get to do! =) And a home project sounds like a wise choice.

    Love your boots, PS.

  5. Africa? That is intense! Hopefully where he is going in no where near EGYPT! Yikes! By the way you look beautiful in your pictures! I love your hair color! I also LOVE, LOVE, LOVE that shirt! I want one! :) I like your idea of getting yourself consumed in a project! Hopefully that will keep your mind off of it! I know how you feel! I hate it when the hubby goes out of town! Hopefully the time will fly! :)

  7. peeeeeeerfect chance for a new hobby or a new workout routine?? see how much hotter you can become by the time he comes back?? :) personally, I might try something bold like learning to dance or something while there's no one in the house to make fun of my awkwardness. haha. make lemonade, girl!!

  8. Great words of wisdom from Get Craftin! Your outfit is very pretty today, love that blouse. Sorry your hubby is going to be gone so long. I'd fill my time doing all the stuff with girlfriends that I didn't see as often, and I don't mind treating myself to movies alone, I'll even go out to dinner alone if I have a good book or magazine to read (well, in my single days I liked to do that sometimes).

  9. LOVE those boots! That totally stinks about your hubby going out of town...I'm not one to give advice because I'm a big chicken and usually end up staying with my mom or conning friends into coming and staying with me while he's gone! haha

  10. My dad was in the military while I was growing up and whenever he went on a trip for more than a week my mom would redecorate. Usually a whole room! She would paint, move furniture, the works... It would take 3-4 days and kept her busy.

    It's an idea!

  11. Shopping definitely helps but YES start a project, and make sure its one you like so you can stick to it while hes gone and your can enjoy youself.

  12. My husband goes away for work frequently and I always shop a lot :), eat out like you do! ha. I also get crafty projects done, and home projects. I do like my alone time, so I find myself enjoying it sometimes. but he;s never away for weeks at a time...the most is 5 days.
Just keep yourself busy and the time will fly by!

Cute boots by the way! I love them!

  13. Africa? That is crazy. My husband went to the Philippines for 6 weeks before, that was rough since communication connection is horrible. For sure have times planned for skype.
I still can't get over how much I adore those boots, we got hit with a pretty bad winter storm this week in Oklahoma, so boots with heels are way out of the picture...So I applaud that you are pulling them off even with snow.

  18. Wow, that really is a long time. I would love to hang with you, but that mint creep you out because I am just some person who follows you. But seriously I love your blog, I wore a uniform to school and never really developed any sort of fashion sense, now I have a 12 year old daughter who LOVES fashion and I consistently let her down. But now I am learning to branch out and try new combos, all thanks to you and your fabulous blog. thanks!
I am in salt lake, I would totally go shopping for sleepies with you ;)
