#28 Trends Of Sorts

March 3, 2011

 {Black and White Polka Dot Top: Ross, Khaki Jacket: Thrifted, X2 Wide Leg High Waist Jeans: Thrifted, Nine West Black Boots: Ebay}

After much thought I decided that this post has to be your favorite post of all time. Why you ask? Because it took me FOREVER to do, ya see this isn't just your run of the mill regular off the tongue hodge podge MVD post its legit...too legit....too legit to quit ;).
So I researched and picked out amazing pics and formatted them for the sole reason of  bringing you lovely MVD friends the:
Spring 2011 Trends:
{Confession: I have spring fever...BAD!}
 {DVF, Prabal Gurung}
 {Dior, Vera Wang}
 {Oscar De La Renta, Derek Lam}
 {Alberta Ferretti, Valentino}
 {Ferragamo, Stella McCartney}
 {Burberry Prorsum, Balmain}
 {Chloe, Fendi}
{Etro, Marc Jacobs}

So here is my opinion about trends in general take it for what it's worth. I think trends are suppose to be used in moderation see on the runway they design clothes by theme so everything the model is wearing is say 70's inspired, now the overall look can be super overwhelming so just intermix pieces into your wardrobe. See like what I did (toot toot goes my own horn ;)) I took some 70's inspired wide leg pants and paired it with a menswear style double breasted jacket.
You also don't have to spend a ton of money either to keep up with current trends, since fashion repeats itself you can find TONS of stuff at the thrift store for cheap that you can re-work for modern day! For instance I just found a robin egg blue lace skirt for $3 yesterday!!
 My faves of the season that I want to incorporate are: Color Explosion, 70's (LOVE, I so totally want that Etro dress its amaze!), Lace, with just a sprinkling of Menswear. Also I think I might start my own trend of pairing jewel tones with pastels, stay tuned for that one!

EDIT: If you are reading this for the first time, I did have a little section in this post about how leggings aren't pants and sort of putting them down. And you know what this blog isn't about putting people or fashion down, so I am sorry I got a little ahead of myself for the expense of comedic value! Love, love, love you guys!!

So what do you guys think about this season's trends? Love? Hate? Which ones are you going to give a whirl?? Wanna still be bff's?

Let me know what you think!!

Love, love.

  4. I totally agree with you about the leggings. Since I'm lds, like most people in Utah I think if you are wearing something that is skin tight like leggings, you should wear something over it because leggings are like tights. Make sense? It's like walking around with wearing tights. Everyone can see your undergarments. I wouldn't be caught dead showing off my butt. Eww.

    Morgan, can you please explain to me what the difference between leggings and jeggings are? :) I haven't quite got around to even wearing such things. I'm more of a jeans type of girl.

  7. What is the difference between leggings and jeggings? I thought they were like the same except the jeggings were fake denim- like that really stretchy material that looks like denim. I've never really looked at/for them, because I hate the sound of "jeggings." lol
    I have to disagree on another thing, I LOVE the metallic.
    But I still love your blog, and enjoyed the legit post!

  9. DVF, Balmain and Chloe can never do anything wrong in my book. That being said, I love your interpretation of the 70's vibe happening lately. Especially the polka dots, I dig the dots!
