Movie Taste

March 28, 2011

{Black and White Stripe Top: Target, Corduroy Blazer: Thrifted, Skirt: I made it, Fuschia Tights: Wet Seal, Clear Bauble Necklace: Kohls, Platform Heels: Ross}.

I discovered something this weekend, I have a very particular taste in movies. Hubby and I watched a couple this weekend...3 to be exact ;). We watched: Traffic, John Q (Hubby has a thing for Denzel but that is a whole post on it's own ;)), and The Bucket List.
~Traffic was pretty interesting, it was about drug trafficking between the US and Mexico. I enjoyed it, it was intense and full of conspiracy which is right up hubby's alley. Would I typically want to watch this type of movie? No, it was good don't get me wrong it just wasn't my style.
~John Q....All I have to say is don't watch this movie! I was a blubbering idiot the last 30 minutes of the show. It was good, again wasn't my style, crying really isn't my fave ;).
~The Bucket List was good, I had seen it before and I have a slight thing for Jack Nicholson. By 'thing' I mean I think he is hilarious ;). But yet again there was more crying at the end which is still not my fave.
This led me to realize that "Comedies" really are my favorite genre of movie, also lets throw in some kiddy shows to (really I promise I could not be more immature ;)). I mean there is rarely any death or violence in kiddy shows it's just all out good fun, which is what I'm all about when watching a movie.

Some of my fave shows would have to be:
You've Got Mail
Lilo and Stitch
Wall-E
Toy Story
Space Balls
Brother Bear
Up
Harry Potter
That Thing You Do
Kung Fu Panda
Ice Age
(Really the list could go on and on but for the sake of this post not taking over the entire blog I'll end here ;)).

I can't decide if this list is embarrassingly lame or awesome...Suppose I'll let you guys be the judge ;). Movies are great and all, but I think if I were given the chance between a movie and a TV series on DVD, I would so go with the TV series. I forgot to mention I have a short attention span when it comes to movies, which can kind of get in the way because hubby LOVES those types of movies. I think I would rather pluck all my eyelashes out then watch a long show, like for example, "Gladiator." Blick~~~~~!
Right now hubby and I are receiving Modern Family from Netflix, and can I just say that I am in LOVE! I think Cam should be my best friend, and I want a little girl exactly like Lily! So hilarious!! If you haven't seen it yet, hurry up and put it in your queue, you won't regret it!
All-in-all I would say I'm still just a kid at heart, I love a good clean flick or TV show filled with loads of laughs...and if it doesn't meet that criteria then it's OUT ;). What are you faves? Any recommendations? Please say that there are some of you out there like me who LOVE kiddy shows...so I don't feel as sheepish...or extremely embarrassed ;). Love, love.

~Also! Do you have a birthday in April/best month of the year? Email me a pic of your fine self, your blog link/website link if you have one, and your birth date for a special bloggy birthday party post! Send them to me at Morgan@meetvirginiadesign.com and if you could have them to me by April 11th that would be great! Thanks friends! You can also go {HERE} for more information.

ps: I am linking up to the fabulous Elaine's Party (BE sure to check it out!) for mixing a floral and a stripe...yeah I know it's been done five billion times, but this is my first time so it's special ;).

  1. Love your skirt! Wall-E is one of my fave's...cracks me up! My husband loves that movie, which suprised me. I haven't seen the Bicket List yet but it's on my list. Also on my list as of 8am this morning (thanks to my co-workers) is Meatballs. Have you seen this? They had to show me the trailer--looks pretty dang funny!

  5. I love a good comedy - but I also love a good drama. I hate kids movies -- so when I have kids will you take them to the movies for me?

    I wish I had a birthday in April! I'm a July babe. July 4.

  8. Love your movies! I'm all about the comedies; for example, my family's favorite film is Dumb and Dumber. But, like your husband, I too like action films and Denzel. (We're on a first name basis.) Also, Modern Family brings joy to my life. I'm glad you too have seen the light :)
