Boo You Swimsuits

{Polka Dot Dress: Thrifted (This was my Easter dress ps!), Cardi: Old Navy, Under T: F21, Wedges: Kohls, Clear Bauble Necklace: Kohls}.

Guys let me preface before diving into my loathing post of swimsuits, I am NOT looking for compliments or hand outs of: Oh no you're so skinny and so on...But if you feel so inclined by all means ;).

I mentioned on twitter that I went out swimsuit shopping this weekend, since hubby and I just booked a trip for our anniversary next month so natch I want to look cute. I grabbed a couple of bottoms (I tend to like to wear short bottoms to cover my behind) and went to try them on. By the way isn't trying on swimsuit bottoms THE worst? I cringe to be honest at thinking of what was in there before slipping them on. So there I was, I pulled on the short bottoms and I was floored...I immediately had two huge reality checks and they were my left and right thighs! Honestly? They look like dimply stuffed sausages, I wanted to throw up right then and there. Why is swimsuit trying on so torturous??
From hence forth I have vowed to get in shape asap! Do you guys know of any diet and/or exercise programs that could get me in super shape in 1 month? You would not know how much I would appreciate it, I am desperate!
Darn you swimsuits...Right??  It was an eye opener for sure! I suppose I need to look on the bright side because now I can do something about it and look great for my man! Thanks in advance for all the help you guys, seriously I need it and I don't know what I would do without you!! Love, love you!

  1. This dress is amazing. I love then length and the bow! Oh and I painted my nails last night and then I saw your tweet pic of your nails. We are total twinners!
Bathing suit shopping is awful. Everyone has an area they'd like to cover up and that becomes difficult when you are wearing next to nothing!

  2. First off, your outfit is so cute! Secondly, buying a swimsuit is the worst for anyone I think...? After the winter I'm pale, have my winter hibernation body and am honestly not used to seeing that much skin. It's much better just to buy the suit and take it home with you to try on in non-florescent lighting :) I'm sure you'll look great on your trip!

  3. Over the years I've learned that short bottoms aren't flattering on anyone. Maybe on super skinny girls, but even then they just aren't. Have you tried just normal bottoms? Retro swimsuits are in style this season and there are so many amazing swim dresses out there, so they cover your behind and the very tops of your thighs (the worst parts usually!!) and they are so stinkin' adorable. Look into those! They'd be super sexy! Where are you going, by the way?

  5. Crossfit!!! OMG. I love it. It's like a big ol' kick in the pants. It's high intensity, low interval training, so it's short and fast. Holey moley. Also, I've been doing the 4 hour body type diet by Tim Farriss. It's pretty amazing. I've lost 6 lbs this last week and had a splurge day. <3 Good luck!

  6. Run.
    Don't starve yourself.
    Count calories.
Figure out your BMR (google it with jillian michaels).
    Lift weights to help tone.

There is no easy, quick, healthy way that doesn't require work and time and sweat. If it sounds too good to be true and too easy, it won't work or last.

  7. Try P90X. I did it after having my son and lost like 15 pounds and had abs again :) It takes 3 months for the full results, but you'll definitely see a marked improvement after a month. It seriously kicks your can, but it works!

  8. P90X! I swear by this program. I know it is 90 days, but I did it for 3 weeks prior to a cruise last year, and that was plenty! I looked awesome, and the videos just got easier each time I did them.

  9. I have the same relationship with swimsuits and my thighs. I've tried the shorts bottoms, but I find the best solution (besides lipo---oh how I dream!) is a skirted bottom. JCrew has some great ones, and also Nike makes very cute skirted bottoms (I've bought them at Kohls).

  10. Morgan, I highly doubt your legs are like dimply sausages.... And if yours are, then mine are something a lot worse than that. I don't know if you are a Jillian Michael's fan (trainer on Biggest Loser). She just came out with a killer DVD called Ripped in 30 that also come with a diet plan you can access online. The workout is only 24 mins a day and has a diff workout for the four weeks of the plan. I just got it but, the one workout I've done had me feeling muscles I forgot I'd had. Plus the DVD was only like $9 online. Not bad. Worth a try and fits in your timeline. Good luck! Where is the hubs taking you for vacay?

  12. The Jillian Michaels 30 day shred DVD wears me out, and it's just how much time you have left. It's only 20 minutes but it's hard!

  14. Spin class sista! It is definately a butt kicker and great on the legs. That and just do squats in the bathroom while you are brushing your teeth, drying your hair, rougeing your cheeks. As far as diets go, I don't believe in them. Just eat a little less of the things you love and double up on green veggies.

  15. hahah! just wait til after baby. oh man what i wouldn't give for my old stretch mark free thighs. but yeah, still wasn't about to show them off. i hate bathing suits! but i love swimming so .... what's a girl to do? ;) good luck! PS: our anniversary is coming up too next month too. fun fun!

  16. Yes, it is no fun! I started C25K and just started jogging. I am hoping it helps.

But you know, I think confidence helps too. Throw it to the wind. You look great -- you post pictures of yourself everyday so I can say this confidently, hehe. Everyone will be wearing swimsuits... and if everyone's doing it, it's OK!

  18. I LOOOVE The Firm's ultimate fat burning workout. ALl of them actually. Since I had my last baby (ok, she's 16 months old, but whatev, right?), I've lost 47 pounds by doing it. And i"m suuuper toned. More toned than when I was a wee thing in college and HS. Seriously, I was 167 when I delivered my baby and I"m not a very 'firm' 120 pounds. Best workout videos ever. And they go by segments, so if I'm not feeling up to a 4o minute workout, I can do 8 or 15 or 20 minutes instead. Good luck!

  19. I would agree - P90X is the way to go! I did it pre-pregnancy and never felt better. The first week kicked my trash but by week 2 and 3 I was seeing great results. My hubby saw quicker results because he followed the diet where I was a little more 'liberal' on that regard. ;) Good luck - and I feel you on the thigh issue - I have issues with my own that will need some more love post pregnancy!

  27. Ugh, two words I dread every spring--swimsuit shopping. I think that no matter how in shape I feel (which usually isn't as in shape as I'd like to be!) I'm never satisfied when trying on suits.
This outfit though, is beautiful--I love the soft pink next to the black.

  28. this outfit is amazing!! i LOVE it!!

and bathing suit shopping is awful!! i totally dread it! lol

  29. First of all, you look adorbs as always. That dress is killer.
Second, I couldn't agree with you more. Especially post baby now!
So I avoided it altogether and ordered swimsuits online so I wouldn't have to go into the dreaded dressing rooms with bad lighting...he he.

  32. 1. The entire outfit is adorable. I love the polka dots and the light color of the cardigan and the everything.

    2. I think we could be hair twins almost. I actually saw your picture on EBEW and came to look because of your hair, haha.

    3. Swimsuit shopping is less than ideal. I'd wager that it is a rough time for the majority of women out there, so you're not alone! I wouldn't consider myself large or anything like that, but I'm certainly out of shape and I know exactly the kind of betrayal your thighs have perpetrated upon you. I need to fix that before my vacation in June. I plan to jump start everything a little--move more, eat better, get my bum outside. It'll so happen.

  33. the skirt-with-bow here? FABDABULOUS. you look amazing, and that pop o' mint on your fingernails is the clincher for me. love this look.
i hate bathing suit shopping. i wish i had advice. i'm not proud of my legs, either, despite doing everything i can think of to slim them down. just not in the cards, or genes, or whatever for me. i feel your pain. but the truth is? your husb will think you look hot no matter what, so do what you can and then enjoy the vacay! it'll be over before you know it.

  38. Ohhh I love the polka dots!! Too cute. The plus side to being my age is that at a certain point you don't give a rats you-know-what what a swim suite looks like, it either fits or not, and then you don't go out into public wearing it anyway. ;) I wanted to let you know too that I gave you an award because I love reading your blog, its on my page and its a new one that a friend and I came up with, you should get a kick out of it. Have a fantastic day Morgan!! :)

I know that I'm commenting on this super late, but I've been working on my weight and getting in shape and even though I've lost lots of weight, when I went to Target today I STILL felt extremely self conscious! Oh well! It's not the end! I hope that you are feeling more confident about yourself by now! I just really felt like I could identify with your post! :) Love your blog!
