Guys we all know what a Blogging Diva is right? They only associate with bloggers who have just as many of followers as them, and they tend to bloggy bully you if you aren't apart of the, as I like to call it: Blogger High Society. Also they claim to know any and everything about blogging since birth.
Well I received an email from one of these said blogging divas accusing me of stealing their html code...Uhhh WHAT? So naturally I laughed first because they obviously don't read my blog, and know that I have absolutely no clue how to work with html, let alone steal someone else's! Secondly I have seen this specific code used all throughout the blogging world, so I'm sorry you didn't invent it...sad I know.
I decided to not even dignify this petty email with a reply back. I know what you are thinking: "Then why are you writing this post?" Well  I am sure many of us have come across these so called blogging divas and I thought it may help to put my little issue out into the universe with a couple bits of advice, mingled with comedic cattiness. I also harbor no ill feelings towards this person at all just for the sake of putting that out there as well. This post is mainly a depiction of how blogging can be kind of high school sometimes and last time I checked I haven't been in high school for: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5...well we'll just say a lot of years ;) ).
Just because we might not have as many followers as these so called blogging divas doesn't mean we need to just lay down and take their crap, or think less of ourselves. Everyone had to start somewhere, and I for one would rather help those along the way instead of degrading, accusing and putting people down. So if this lil blog is ever blessed to have thousands of followers, I vow to never become a blogging diva. Lets all vow to never become blogging divas mmk? It's not cute. Also feel free to "steal" any html code from me, it's my gift to you ;).
Any of you guys had experiences with blogging divas or better yet anonymous haters? Don't worry friends I got your back, lets take a stand shall we? Thanks for letting me rant and rave as always friends, don't know what I'd do without ya'z! Keep it real mmk, it's the only way to keep it ;). Love, loves.

ps: Have any questions you've been dying to ask? Then ask away! It's all fair game!

pps: You can find me guest posting over at Oh Sweet Basil today!!

  1. I think there is WAY more to being a blogging diva than that. But I agree with you, and that is just terrible. Pretty much everything on the internet is public domain anymore. I mean, people are always positing photos not taken by them without giving credit. Stealing a code? For reals? You can google that stuff! We're all doing something we enjoy to do, it shouldn't be about stealing or cliques or any type of bullying.

  2. Wow! Stealing html...is that even possible?! Don't we have more important things to deal with? Sorry you had to deal with that. I've had some fun anonymous comments. Did people miss the lessons of kindergarten or just forget?

ok...i totally agree...im not a big blogger...but i follow some and some of those blogging divas wont even talk to you or comment or even tweet if you arent a blogging diva as well...i think its ridiculous and quite rude...

exactly how they lose people with the "better than thou" attitude ya know...

i am glad you addressed this because i totally understand...its ridiculous...

i am grateful for your sweet comments! and posts!!!!

  5. That is awful, and to be honest, I'm not even 100% sure of what stealing an html code would be. Yes, I'm not bloggy/savvy yet. ;) I've had some anon comments that are pretty rude, but laugh because it's easy to say mean things when hiding behind an annonymous posting. I'm in the very early stages of a blog and have a lot of developing to do, so I appreciate fellow bloggers that encourage me along the way!

  6. It's funny because you, darling, are the only blogger I follow who has commented on my fledgling blog! And I so appreciate that you would do so despite the fact that I have a total of eight followers. Thanks for not being a blogging diva ;)

Also, I love your dress. I don't know if you have a chictopia account, but if you do you should enter the red for Japan contest with this lovely red number! You look lovely!

  7. YAY for vowing to never be blogging divas!! You are the perfect example of what every bloggers should be like, friendly to everyone no matter how many followers they have. P.S. Did you steal my html code? It looks super familiar? ha ha ;)

  8. I've totally noticed this. What's sad is that it even happens with bloggers who do not yet have thousands of followers. Or even 500. But they completely ignore you. Or are unresponsive. Sad. And kinda rude! Thanks for being the sweetheart you are and not ignoring the lowly likes of me!

  10. Morgan, I am so happy that you wrote this post! I know from reading (and comments) that everything you write comes from a place of "nice." I think that as bloggers, when we put ourselves out there we have to remember to be sincere and live by Thumper's mother's rule: if you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all. I'm sorry that you got that email, and maybe you should reply politely and let her know that it is just a coincidence that your code is similar.
    Anyway - I think you're great!

  13. honestly i read these posts of yours and am like "thank goodness someone else feels that way too". seriously. i appreciate all bloggers and feel like we should all branch out and be friends. i don't have that many followers but i certainly appreciate it when people with more followers (like yours) take time to read my little blog and show some love. it makes me feel special. i also want to show support to the little guys out there. UGH i strongly dislike blogging divas. we're all friends (or we should be.) also i wish you would say who it is. just because i'm curious/nosy/whatever other intrusive term you can think of.

  14. I love your dress!

Also that is crappy you had to deal with that. I think you've done a great job with your blog and enjoy reading it.

  15. Have I ever told you that I just love you?! I love when you speak the truth about stuff, especially the bad parts about blogging. You always put a smile on my face and make me feel a 1000 times better :)
Oh & LOVE you in red :)

  16. I agree! Holy cow, I dislike those people. I feel that I've worked hard and have talked with each one of my followers-- even though I only have 48-- I make the effort to NOT be one of those bloggers. I'm totally on your side and feel your pain! I've made a lot of effort to get bloggers from all over the blogosphere to share their chic tips on my blog, and I've had some replies that my blog wasn't good enough or didn't have enough followers for them to do it. :( I dislike that immensely. Good luck with the battle!

    Much Love,

  19. I really like this post Morgan, negativity sucks, especially in blogging, which to me is a place for inspiration and positivity (I'm idealistic you can tell!).

I have yet to have mean comments or e-mails, but yet get anonymous comments here and there about the fact that I write in English in a French Canadian province and I also think: Aren't we just free to be you and me? The answer is YES!

I say no to blogging divas and yes to lovely red dresses :)

  20. People are stupid. You want to see divas, go to Blogher with me! It is so weird. I want to be like, "um, we're all here because we blog, right?" Some people act like mega celebs... it is odd.

But you know the most genuine, nice people I've met are people with more readers in a day that my little blog gets in a year. Some are divas but some are really nice and restore my faith in the world.

I'm with you though - just say no to the diva.

And that red looks SO good with your dark hair!

  21. First of all, I love this outfit--that dress is gorgeous! Second, I don't think I've been blogging long enough to have had any encounters with a blogging diva yet, and it sounds like that's a good thing! I've been trying to put my finger on what it is that I like and dislike about various blogs, and I think you just helped me figure it out--you feel REAL, you know? Some blogs really do feel very high school-ish and like they only exist for people to tell them they're so cute and funny and smart and blah blah blah. I don't like that. I like yours better :-) And I really, really quickly "unfollow" the ones that are only writing to get a pat on the back :-)

  22. I don't normally like red, but you look amazing in it! I love that dress with the cardi. You're looking super duper pretty, my friend.

I love this post. I'm new in the style blogging area and I always feel like the bloggers with lots of followers don't even want to give us "lowly bloggers" a chance. Thanks for commenting on my blog and supporting me as I've started. I love it when bloggers are kind and reciprocate the love their readers show them. So keep it up. There are some really, really nice bloggers out there who have tons (tons to me is 1000+) of followers (Mara from M Loves M, for instance and you!), and it's always so refreshing to run into nice ones.

Also, how do you steal an html code? I'm not sure if I know that means so I'd love to know what she was accusing you of exactly!

  28. I've only had a few, and pretty minor 'blogger diva' encounters, but they were pretty off putting. I think the internet makes it even easier for people to be rude, or snobby because they don't really have to deal with actually confronting people, face to face and seeing their reaction.
That being said, I have met (mostly virtually) some really down-to-earth, sweet bloggers with thousands of followers. That's how I imagine you will be once you do reach those numbers :) It what keeps people coming back!

I love your dress! I'm a sucker for red dresses :) or anything red, really!

p.s.- so excited for the giveaway!! keeping my fingers crossed!

  29. Ya know, this sounds a lot like The Social Network. This means you can be snarky, but oh-so-smart Jesse Eisenberg as you battle those Winklevoss-bloggers who claim you stole their code. I have a total nerd crush on Jesse Eisenberg as Mark Zuckerberg. And a blog crush on you, so it works out in the end right? Except you are a much better dresser than Jesse/Mark.

    1. the kind who never ever reply to comments! i mean really, you can do it at least once a week!

    2. the ones who get famous from blogging and then disable comments and/or stop blogging as much (ahem sea of shoes)

    3. the kind who say they followed you just so you follow them!

  36. I cannot stand those blogger divas who have so many followers that don't feel the need to comment on some of us small bloggers blogs...it definitely reminds me of highschool and I hated high school because of girls like that.
I love that dress, especially the lacy print around the waist.

  37. saw you on sweet basil as the guest. awesome awesome! so i feel like i haven't talked with you in forever.... what has it been a full week or something? maybe that's why i need friend time more than anything right now!!! i feel like im going to pull all my hair out..... being a mom some days is rough, but i love it. i just need a little time out of the house.... hope you understand. is nate gone to africa yet? text, call me whatever.....
btw i want that dress!! love the color and you look so stinkin cute in it!

  38. First of all, I had no idea you could "steal" HTML codes. I thought most of them you could find via Google search? Shows how much I know! Blogging often does feel like high school, and those mean girls can sometimes take what is supposed to be a fun creative outlet and make it well, not-so-fun. Just brush it off because you have an amazing inspiring blog and you are gorgeous girl!

  39. You really are so lovely. I super love how you are so authentic in your posts, and you always say it like it is. Love, seriously.
And I second, or third or whatever, your comment about blogging sometimes being high school. I am personally really good friends with two ladies who are super huge, like speak at conferences make serious moolah big. But I know them in real life, I have forever and to be honest sometimes I feel very looked down at because I don't blog regularly or because I don't really post tutorials with a shmancy camera. I am not really making a point, I agree that's all.

  40. So sorry you've had that experience! I agree about blogging divas.. the most genuine bloggers have tweeted back or even commented on my tiny little blog.. it's those people that make it all worth it :) Also, this monochrome outfit in bright right is absolutely wonderful!

  47. I'm totally curious to know who are you talking about because I had a situation happen with one blogger. She was major diva and I just thought why? Why on earth do you need to act like that. I want to make friends in the blogging world not enemies. Thanks for you comments on my blog I do appriecate it. I think you are sweet and I vow not to be come a diva too. We should all sign a pledge or something.

  48. Great post! As a newbie blogger, I can totally relate. It's actually sort of discouraging when you try to talk to people who are "successful", try to get advice & they ignore you. On the otherhand, some bloggers have been great. Thanks for telling it like it is!

  49. Sorry I'm late to the game, I just saw this post. And my blogger was being wacky for me. I just want to say AMEN! to everything you just wrote. I have very little followers and my blog isn't usually too interesting. But I do read other blogs and try to comment, and its so irritating when they don't comment back. Or visit my blog or anything! I understand if you get a lot of comments, but just a general thanks for the input really makes a difference. Anyways.... love your blog :] And I have no clue how one would go about stealing a html code or what one is. I am blog/computer illiterate

I too have very few followers. I guess that I have any is a minor miracle.
I pretty much stay away from the "divas" I feel like they are model wanna bees and not real people.
I have had some great interaction from other bloggers which I appreciate greatly.
