Guys the secret is out...I have naturally wavy hair. And you know what I have been hiding it all my life, why you ask? Well because I never thought it was hip and cute, I have just decided recently that you know what this is me and I need to embrace it (sort of cheesey right, I mean it is just hair, but hair is important)! So you will be seeing this hairdo a lot more often around these parts...hope that's ok with you ;)! Also any of you out there have closet wavy hair? Have any tips or products that you love? Sure would love them, this whole wavy world is new to me ;). Love, love friends!

  1. Ooh girl, I had to learn that one the hard way in 8th grade. I wanted so bad for my hair to be straight like all the other girls. I tried serums, frizz control spray, blow dryers, straighteners; you name it, I tried it.

Then one day I realized and told myself, "you know what self, you really should embrace your wavy locks. Lots of other girls out there would kill for natural waves like mine." And, since then, I haven't looked back! :)

    You look gorgeous!

  2. i totally am with you on wavy hair!! (another sign that we are twins, i think... ;)) i just eventually learned to embrace it. i don't use anything fancy - herbal essence toussel wave (the purple bottle) is the name of what i use when i want to scrunch the look. happy stylin', friend!!!

  4. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? I would kill for your waves! I have wavy/curly hair... but mine is like a massive blob of curls and waves. Nothing cute like yours. I always tried to straighten it because I didn't think it was me and I just didn't like it.

Last month I stumbled upon The Curly Girl blog where she teaches how to plop your hair. Plopping shapes your waves and curls and gives the roots some volume (which is something curly girls kind of dread). You can look up tutorials on YouTube. Anyhow... I am finally starting to embrace my curls after 30 years. Not completely, I still wish my waves were like yours, but I'm liking myself a little better.

    Thank you for confessing!

    xoxo

  7. I actually love your hair like this! Your waves are very pretty! I have wavy hair myself and I'm still looking for the right products. When I want to make my hair wavier, I use Catwalk's Curls Rock Curl Booster on my dry hair, it's the best one I've found do far that doesn't leave my hair too sticky or gross feeling. Please share any other products you find!

  15. My hair is wavy, and I've never had the patience to straighten so I've always let my hair be wavy.
I love Curly Sexy hair mousse; it's gives my waves the oomph it needs.
I also love, love, LOVE Living Proof No Frizz Cream. One day when we're making money and out of school, I'm only going to use that one my hair. I don't like my hair getting sticky and crunchy so I used the No Frizz Straight Cream which keeps your hair really soft but makes the frizz disappear.

  24. I think embracing your hair is one of the most important things you'll ever do to improve self confidence! (And by you I mean all women) If your recall what my hair looks like, it is very curly, and learning to love my curls made me a much happier person. (and a much richer one. Straightening treatments for extremely curly hair are NOT cheap!)
Anyway, it's not cheesy, it's awesome! Embrace away!
If your hair has some real curl to it try pineapple-ing! Or braiding! :)

  25. Your hair looks great! I love the subtle waves.

I used to hate my wavy hair, until I realized it was much less maintenance. Now I rarely straighten it!

  29. I have wavvy/curly hair and on the days that it decides to cooperate, I get lots of "how did you get your hair to do that comments?" to which I always reply: "getting it straight is the trick". I know that a lot of people might argue to go for it, but I can't get over the ease to which I can put my hair in a ponytail/bun when it's straight. If it's curly that's how it's going to be and any quick up-do is going to require a mirror and bobby pins...

  30. i used to have curly, curly hair, but when i had my kids it got wavy. i actually wear it wavy ALOT in the summer since the east coast has so much humidity. i don't use any special or expensive products at all, i use a little jon frieda serum & then i scrunch it with mousse from tre seme (sp) and then finish with hair spray. it's such a cool (tempeture wise) hairstyle. all that blow drying makes me super hot!

  33. I too have wavy hair, but mine frizzes out in the Texas humidity. After five years here, I have yet to find a reliable product to contain it. Maybe someday...

  37. It's so funny because girls with straight hair want curly/wavy hair, and girls with curls want it straight, and girls with short hair want it long, and vice versa. I for one have not embraced my natural hair and steadily get it relaxed (straigtened) every 6-8 weeks
