Camera Need Funk

September 2, 2011

Guys I have been in a little bit of a funk lately. See in my last post the picture I put up was the only one that even turned out. This is horrible for me to say but you know what I will say it anyway, do you ever feel like you could have a more successful blog if you had a nice camera and could take amazing pictures that were crisp and clean? Also a live-in photographer would be great. Do you guys ever get in a funk and think about what might be in the blogging world? Perhaps I have been comparing myself too much lately to other bloggers, tisk tisk shame on me! I know, I know, this is probably the most vain post you have ever read but hey it's the truth! I am hoping to have enough saved by Christmas to be able to get me one of these little beauties! I would sure love any recommendations that you guys have! I think I am going to go with a Canon but other than that I am clueless (really what's new)! Thanks for all the love friends, seriously love y'all.

  4. Go with a a Canon! We had a Canon EOS Rebel xSI for a few years, which is a great entry level dslr and isn't too expensive ($650 right now I think). We just recently upgraded to a Canon 60d and a new lens. Go with a Canon and do a lot of research on which one will satisfy your needs.

  5. Yes. I'd LOVE to have a new camera too...and i hear Canon's are really user friendly. I'll be interested to see what you get cause I don't know any more than that either ;) I know how you feel though.

  6. I recently got a Canon Rebel T3 and love it. It is very entry level and pretty easy to use. I can totally tell a difference in my pictures. In researching what to get, I found that Canon can use lenses that aren't just Canon ones. Nikon only can use Nikon lenses. Hope this helps and you can get a new camera soon!

  7. I often feel that way too and am planning on getting a new camera next month. I'm torn between a Nikon and a Canon...

  8. I know exactly how you feel. I really want a good camera too, it's just so hard to take the plunge and spend all that money! For the record though, I've always thought your pictures were crisp, clear and colourful :)

  9. Hey Morgan! I'm Nate's friend Brett's wife...Annie...(does that even make sense? you came to our wedding luncheon 5 years ago...) anyway, I taught HS photography for a number of years so I can help you mucho on this subject. First, there is NO difference between Nikon and Canon as far as quality. You CAN use various lenses (ie. Sigma, Tamron etc) for either Canon or Nikon. I started with a Canon when I was in HS so thats what I stuck with. I would recommend any of the Canon Digital Rebels or a Nikon D3000 or D3100. Number of pixels DOESN'T matter. I would check out KEH.com. Its a reputable site where people sell used equipment. Don't hesitate to get a hold of me if you have any questions! anniegmurdock at gmail dot com.

  10. i have had these same thoughts about the photos on my blog. i even have a nice dslr, but the photo quality still isn't that great indoors, probably because i don't know how to properly use the settings. i sometimes think it's more important to know how to use your camera than the camera itself. but good luck choosing one!!

I've got that exact beauty at home! Got it for last christmas and my birthday! I am one of those believing that photos are essential for a blog. I don't think your photos are really that bad quality, so please don't worry about that, but I can only agree to the fact that SLR cameras make better pictures. I only started my blog now that I got the good tools, so I cannot compare, but that was a personal decision. I did not want to write a blog with second best photos. Therefore I can only recommend buying one of those. Have been the happiest photographer with this one (so far!).

  12. i feel the same! i use the $100 type-of camera you can buy at target. i would love to have a nice one, but then i researched how much some of my fave blogger's cameras cost and my jaw dropped. yeahhhh, i think i will stick with what i got for now :-P

  13. I think your blog and your pictures are great Morgan! Sometimes creativity (which is free) takes us further than a fancy camera! There is no magic, I have a nice cam and am just learning to use it, so not all the pics come out fabulous neither.

I don agree with the live in photographer thought but since not all our husbands fulfill their creative needs taking our blog pictures, we have to tuff it out! On the other hand, doing our own pictures gives us complete creative control and feeling of accomplishment :)
