I am beyond obsessed with my new Canon DSLR camera that I got for Christmas from my loving husband (kudos). These are the first pictures that I have taken with it, and with my new remote...Which was/is a learning process, hence the hot picture above ;). I feel like I am a sponge right now soaking up anything and everything that has to do with taking and editing pictures. I would love to get some pointers from you guys!
Any tips with taking pictures with a camera remote?
Any tips for shooting pictures manually?
Any tips for editing pictures in photoshop?
What do you prefer, pictures that are more simply edited or gussied up?
Thanks guys! I am so excited to see what you have to say and try out some new things! Love
This is a really good tutorial (from a great blogger) on how to take your own pics with a camera remote! They look pretty lovely so far by the way! ;) What kind of DSLR did ya get?

yay you finally got one!! you will LOVE it!! also digging your sweater, pretty lady!!
ReplyDeleteI know nothing about camera's (hence the lack of personal photos on my blog) butI must say, you look so gorgeous in your photos!
ReplyDeletelove this sweater!! Great shoes too--I am desperate for a new camera...so jealous!
ReplyDeleteI just took a class last night about how to use my DSLR and it was great! Not sure if he visits your area but I learned a lot about aperture/shutter speed/ISO/saving as RAW vs JPEG, etc.

I can see the difference in your photos already!
The best tips I've heard about manual is look at the photos you've taken that you like and find out what settings you (your camera) used. The exact settings probably won't work perfectly, but it's a great place to start.
ReplyDeleteAlso, for a starting point, take the photo in auto mode and then tailor those settings your camera used to the kind you like. (shallow depth of field, slightly over exposed, etc.)
I've used both of these tricks and they work well!
I'm loving your sweater and your shoes so much! I don't know much about photography, but hopefully I can learn soon. For me, I like photos with more simple edits.
ReplyDeleteI hope you have a great weekend!

ReplyDeleteI love this looK! I am in need of a new camera, and will be in the same learning process as you! Good luck!
ReplyDeleteI prefer to see shots not too adjusted, maybe just correcting the color
-new follower! :)

A tripod will be your new bff! I highly recommend. For the remote, if yours has a switch to set it for a small delay (mine is like a 2 second delay) that will totally help. Gets annoying hearing the beeps, but helps in hiding the remote. Also, grab a uv filter to protect your lens and a polarizer to get great outdoor shots....helps with coloring and getting a good blue sky.
ReplyDeleteAwesome pics...especially for the first go at the remote!
I got a new camera too!! Still trying to figure it out. How do you like the remote? I was just looking at them online? Let me know any good tips you get please!!!
ReplyDeletehehe so happy you got a new camera!! my remote trick is to put the hand holding it sort of behind you so you cant see the remote :)

ReplyDeletelove your sweater too!
i want to be involved in the thrifting outfits, it's just my schedule with my health is so up and down, i just can't pull it off, but i just love that you do that, and love your blog!
I got a new camera not to long a go and I am still trying to figure it out with my remote. Every picture I seem to snap is blurry. Once you have some helpful hints I would love to know! Good luck!
ReplyDeleteOh on photo editing I don't edit my photos. I am who I am and I look how I look. But, if you feel like "gussing" up your pics I say go for it! Not that you need it because you are beautiful.
ALWAYS SHOOT IN RAW. You can convert to JPG later.
ReplyDeleteThis sweater of yours is darling! Love the print. I was the recipient of a DSLR for my birthday last year and can safely say it has changed my life. Love!
ReplyDeleteI should get a remote for mine! That would make my life so much easier.
ReplyDeleteHa I love the picture of you with the remote in the foreground! That's so awesome. You're the cuuuutest.
